When you tell the waitress you want hot sauce, so hot I cry when I eat. And when she comes back she sets it down and she says "good luck with that". I am a happy man. And the drinks were strong and great tasting. Per our hotel this is their favorite local spot. Great suggestion
gwatalahara grill is so good! go to it! the server was beautiful and gave us great salsa! the ambiance was so good! there was a man playing guitar! the runs are so hard! my toco was cooked in the best way possible.
If for nothing else, come here for the chips and salsa. Wow. Best I've ever had. This food is so good that is really all I got here. Stop in, you will not be disappointed.
This restaurant is so fun! The atmosphere is lively, and the service is friendly. Portions are huge, and a lovely server will come by and make salsa and guacamole to order for you, table side. We had mild salsa this time and it was so tasty. The chips were fresh and refilled quickly. We tried a variety of delicious entrees as well. And the margaritas are huge and go down easy!
5 star everything!!! The food was top notch! To start there is a lady who walks around and makes salsa and guacamole table side. We couldn't decide so we had all both hot salsa and medium salsa along with guacamole. The guacamole was the best I've had in a long time and I do live in Arizona so I know guacamole. I had the chili Colorado it was cooked to perfection. Moist beef, not too spicy delicious beans and rice. Very flavorful. There was also a shrimp cocktail ordered and the care. Asada beef plate. Both were amazing! The waiter was attentive and we didn't have to wait for anything requested. There were some parties in the area we were in but it wasn't very noticeable. The noise level was reasonable. This place is definitely worth a visit when in Tucson.
This is such a great place. We come here once a week for lunch. The food and drinks are delicious and the service is amazing. Having been in the restaurant business, I know what a treasure it is to have a remarkable employee like Carlos. I continue to recommend.
Loved it! Homemade customized salsa at your table to the desired spiciness of your choice. Also made right in front of you is the fresh guacamole with fresh avocados. Beans and rice were also both good, not too bland or not too overpowering in flavors. Both plates were great! Forgot the names of each dish. LOL
Funny, updating my review 5 years later and ordered the Chile Nogada again! Dinner for 5 last night and everyone had a great time! The table side salsa and guacamole are a must-have, she'll make it to order. Service was much better this time - our waiter was there when we needed him. Three of us got a molcajete, they really are good, especially if you're one of those people (like me) that doesn't like cold food. Keeps your dinner hot for a long time! I actually had the chile nogada which is one of my favorite Mexican dishes. The sauce was good, but my plate must hav sat under a warmer for a while because the radishes and refried beans were dried out (see photo). Overall a very pleasant evening.
